Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, institution affiliation, and role. This information is used to provide you with the Service and to communicate with you.

Research Data

FieldSocio stores the research data you create, including audio recordings, interview transcripts, translations, survey responses, field notes, and PRA exercise outputs. This data is stored locally on your device and, if you enable cloud sync, on our secure servers.

Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the Service, including feature usage frequency, session duration, and crash reports. We do not analyze the content of your research data for analytics purposes.

Location Data

When you grant permission, we collect GPS coordinates to tag your recordings, observations, and survey responses. Location data is stored as part of your research data and is not shared separately.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Service
  • To process AI transcription and translation through Bhashini APIs
  • To sync your data across devices (when enabled)
  • To send you important updates about the Service
  • To provide customer support
  • To improve and optimize the Service

AI Processing & Third-Party Services

When you use AI transcription or translation features, your audio recordings are sent to Bhashini (Government of India's AI language platform) for processing. Bhashini processes your audio to generate transcripts and translations. We do not retain your audio on third-party servers after processing is complete.

Data Storage & Security

Your research data is primarily stored on your device. If you enable cloud sync, data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256) on our servers hosted in India. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information or research data to third parties. We may share data only in the following circumstances:

  • With your explicit consent
  • To comply with legal obligations
  • To protect our rights and safety
  • With team members you explicitly invite to your projects

Data Retention

We retain your account information and cloud-synced data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the app or by contacting us.
