Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using FieldSocio ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

Description of Service

FieldSocio is a mobile and web application that provides tools for qualitative field research, including interview recording, AI-powered transcription and translation, survey data collection, participatory research tools, and qualitative data analysis. The Service is designed for academic researchers, NGO professionals, and students conducting fieldwork in India.

Account Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • Be responsible for all activities that occur under your account

Subscription Plans & Payment

FieldSocio offers multiple subscription tiers (Student, Researcher, Team, Institution). Free plans have usage limits as described on our pricing page. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your app store account.

Your Research Data

You retain full ownership of all research data you create using FieldSocio, including recordings, transcripts, translations, survey data, field notes, and analysis outputs. We claim no intellectual property rights over your content.

You grant us a limited license to process, store, and transmit your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service (including AI transcription and translation through Bhashini).

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload content that infringes on intellectual property rights
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or tamper with the Service
  • Use the Service to harm, threaten, or harass others
  • Share your account credentials with unauthorized individuals
  • Exceed the usage limits of your subscription plan through automated means

Research Ethics

You are solely responsible for ensuring your research complies with applicable ethical guidelines, including obtaining informed consent from research participants, maintaining confidentiality, and following your institution's ethics review board (IRB/ERB) requirements. FieldSocio provides tools to support ethical research practices but does not guarantee compliance.

AI Services Disclaimer

AI transcription and translation services are provided through Bhashini and may not be 100% accurate. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of AI-generated transcripts and translations before using them in publications or reports. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI outputs.

Availability & Modifications

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service with reasonable notice. We will make commercially reasonable efforts to allow you to export your data before any discontinuation.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FieldSocio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of research data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FieldSocio, its officers, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
