What is FieldSocio?

FieldSocio is an AI-powered field research platform for social scientists. It combines offline-first data collection, automatic transcription in 13 Indian languages, AI-powered qualitative analysis, and participatory research tools — all in a mobile app.

Who is FieldSocio designed for?

Social science researchers, anthropologists, sociologists, development professionals, and NGO workers conducting qualitative field research in India.

Does FieldSocio work offline?

Yes. All data collection features — recording, note-taking, surveys, PRA tools — work without an internet connection. Data syncs automatically when you reconnect.

Languages & AI

Which languages are supported?

13 Indian languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, English, Punjabi, Odia, Assamese, and Urdu. See Supported Languages for details.

How accurate is the transcription?

Accuracy varies by language, audio quality, and speaker clarity. Tier 1 languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, etc.) have the highest accuracy. We recommend reviewing and editing all transcripts.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Your research data is never used to train AI models. Audio is processed through Bhashini’s ASR pipeline and discarded after transcription.

Data & Privacy

Where is my data stored?

Data is stored locally on your device and synced to Firebase cloud storage (Google Cloud Platform, India region). All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).

Can I delete my data?

Yes. You can delete individual interviews, projects, or your entire account. See Delete Account for details.

FieldSocio follows data minimization principles. You control what data to collect and can delete it at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Pricing

Is FieldSocio free?

FieldSocio offers a free Student tier with limited usage. Paid plans (Researcher, Team, Institution) offer higher limits and additional features. See Pricing for details.

Is there a discount for PhD students?

Yes. We offer a PhD Grant Program that provides free access to the Researcher plan for eligible PhD students. Contact us for details.

Technical

What devices are supported?

Android 8.0+ and iOS 14.0+. A device with at least 2 GB of free storage is recommended.

How much storage does FieldSocio use?

The app itself is about 150 MB. Audio recordings use approximately 1 MB per minute of recording.

Can multiple researchers use the same project?

Team features are available on the Team and Institution plans. Multiple researchers can access the same project through the web dashboard.
