Overview

Ranking exercises help understand community priorities and preferences. FieldSocio supports pairwise comparison and matrix ranking methods.

Types of Ranking

Pairwise Ranking

Compare items two at a time to establish relative preferences:

  1. Enter the items to rank (e.g., livelihood options, crop varieties)
  2. The app presents each pair for comparison
  3. Participants choose their preference for each pair
  4. Results are tallied automatically into a preference matrix

Matrix Ranking

Score multiple items against multiple criteria:

  1. Enter items (rows) and criteria (columns)
  2. Participants assign scores for each item-criterion combination
  3. Scores are summed and items ranked by total

Output

  • Preference matrix with tallied results
  • Final ranking with scores
  • Session notes and participant observations
